Reiterating its commitment towards an eco friendly environment, Titan, India's leading watch brand today announced the Titan Green Exchange initiative to be implemented in partnership with Saahas, a Bangalore based NGO committed towards reducing environmental impact of e-waste. With this initiative, Titan takes a lead in e-waste management practices in the lifestyle industry, reinforcing itself as a responsible leader in the market.
Titan Exchange offer is the biggest annual market activation campaign. This campaign generates hundreds and thousands of old wristwatches from customers across the country who return their watches for getting new Titan watches. Saahas, with the able assistance of E-Wardd, one of the first groups of informal recyclers in India, will undertake the recycling of e-waste generated from these old watches exchanged during the ongoing offer.
Speaking on the initiative Mr. Ajoy Chawla, Vice-President & Global Business Head, Titan & Retail, said, "The Titan Exchange offer has grown in popularity over the years to become one of the most sought after promotional schemes in the lifestyle category in India. However, the increasing popularity of this offer also implies large number of old watches that requires intensive recycling. We are happy to associate with Saahas and E-Wardd who are equipped to efficiently handle this initiative."
According to Ms. Wilma Rodrigues, Founder member, Saahas, "Lifestyle changes have led to generation of huge quantities of e-waste that are potentially hazardous to the environment. However, few lifestyle businesses have realised the need to establish self-regulatory norms that will minimize the impact of evolving lifestyles on our environment. We are delighted to be associated with Titan for this initiative and hope that this will help us to influence more people to join us and work towards eliminating this menace."
The brand is committed towards an eco-friendly, financially viable and socially acceptable e-waste management system.
