Opening the door to new product combinations for consumers, Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) delivers portable access to personalized content, as well as the flexibility to share and view it with friends, family, colleagues and classmates.  With DLP ® and OMAP™ technologies from TI, consumers can now use their cell phones to capture and store content, including high-quality digital movies and console-quality video games, and then watch the content with others via a connection to mobile, palm-sized DLP pocket projectors, that are full-featured, yet weigh less than one pound.  At the 2007 CES (International Consumer Electronics Show), TI demonstrated DLP and OMAP technologies together, showcasing the visual excitement and the future of how consumers will be watching their personalized portable entertainment content.

The ability to share content between the handset and DLP display should drive increased content sharing as consumers, in particular video gamers and movie fans, will have easy on-the-go access to their personalized high-quality video content and live TV (sports, news, etc.).  Consumers can quickly and seamlessly display their video content in larger, more enjoyable screen sizes by connecting a DLP Pocket Projector to the video-out feature on OMAP-enabled handsets.  Additionally, gamers can share their multi-dimensional video graphics, normally available only in consoles, with their friends anywhere a DLP display is available.

"As consumers around the world continue to embrace mobile video, TI is combining two of its core technologies, DLP and OMAP, to improve the mobile viewing experience," said John Van Scoter, senior vice president Texas Instruments and general manager DLP Products.  "Just as audio entertainment has successfully become a portable 'hi-fi' experience, we expect to see a similar trend with mobile video devices.  And by simply connecting one of these devices to a tiny DLP Pocket Projector, 30" -50" projected images are possible, which truly delivers on the promise of mobile 'big screen' entertainment," added Van Scoter.
