Bangalore is hosting South India's first mega retail event 'The Shop ' on 30, 31 May at The Grand Ashok. Some 500 delegates representing regional, national and global brands, retailers, real estate developers and the entire retail support fraternity are expected to converge to explore and expand the south market that today stands at over Rs. 2,50,000 crore, says Mr. Amitabh Taneja, Chief Convenor, India Retail Forum, the organisers of 'The Shop'.

HE Shri T.N. Chaturvedi, Governor of Karnataka will address The NOKIA IMAGES RETAIL CEO MEET at The Shop and will also release 'SOUTH INDIA RETAIL & REALTY REPORT: 2015 AND BEYOND' - the first South India study sizing up the entire retail and retail real state market by Images F&R Research with Cushman Wakefield.

'The Shop' Conference Chairman Mr. Bijou Kurien, President & Chief Eexecutive - Lifestyle Reliance Retail , strongly feels that the meet will help better understanding and shaping up of the market that continues to pioneer and set standards - in mall environments, specialty mall concepts, high streets as well as mega retail spaces.

The region that introduced modern retail homegrown concepts like Nilgiri's. Java City, Nalli, Pothy's Sarvana Stores, Witco, Viveks, Odyssey among others and also having pioneered the mall concept with Spencer Plaza emerged as the launch pad for most national and international retailers. Though the biggest stores are still coming up in South but it will be vital to analyse the scope of current and future developments in the context of sustainability and consumer response.

Explaining the relevance of 'The Shop', Mr. Taneja says that the South India has long been acknowledged as a pioneering base for organised retail in India. However, it is now time to move up the chain, with more advanced retailing practices that will integrate it with some of the world's best practices in store operations, management and vendor sourcing. The Shop is just the nodal point for such information and business opportunities to meet each other.

Besides exhibitors across retail categories and services including shopping centre development, retail design, technology, logistics and more, over 100 Retail CEOs from across the country will converge at 'The Shop' Bangalore to share insights into South India Retail - Categories & formats, demand & supply, consumption & shopping trends, space & infrastructure, mergers & acquisitions, tie-ups -- discussing successes & failures and chart out future path to grow retail in South.

With all elements of India Retail Forum, 'The Shop' will introduce products, services, spaces, ideas and innovations to retailers and potential franchisees and retail real estate developers and equip regional players with necessary support and systems and learning from masters in the business of retail. Showcasing the best in retail offering, providing an in-depth analysis of retail business trends and formulating a differential winning strategy, THE SHOP ensures the participation of the very best retail concepts, successful brands, retailers and distributors from all across India.
