Technopreneurs in the Spotlight at GES 2007
This year, Global Entrepolis @ Singapore 2007 (GES 2007) will see stronger collaboration and cooperation between participants and exhibitors in the technology field. Many new innovations are expected to be launched and showcased at The Enterprise Exchange, a technology-focused exhibition at GES 2007 where a large number of delegates from ASEAN, India, and China are expected to gather and interact. To date, 80 percent of exhibition floor space at The Enterprise Exchange has been booked, based around this year’s theme of Global Gathering, Growth Opportunities, and Green Initiatives.
This year, Neublick, a provider of readable sunlight LCD solutions for outdoor TV, and Murata, a manufacturer of electronics components and modules, are both showcasing exciting new innovations; a bicycle-riding robot and an interactive sandwich-board man respectively. Such inventions are an indication that robots with the ability of making their own independent decisions could soon be part of everyday life, taking over jobs that are too dangerous for humans, or serving as helpers and companions for the physically challenged.
The ‘Green’ theme at GES 2007 is illustrated by the participation of Agro Genesis, an agricultural nanotechnology solutions provider. The company plans to launch its Agro-Silica range of products which will offer multiple benefits, including yielding stronger and healthier plants, increasing crop yield and quality, increasing plant resistance, optimising soil pH, and reducing the need for pesticides.
Among other confirmed exhibitors are Fujinon, an optical instrument manufacturer; BIG Interactive, a creator and provider of interactive digital media; Island Optical Systems, an optical system integrator; and Phion Technology, a company delivering next generation fashion electronic.
As part of the agenda at GES 2007, participants will have an opportunity to attend a series of conferences that focus on topics that matter most to businesses today. Among these is the E-Government Summit 2007, which will cover a range of issues facing both citizens and governments around e-government services. Participants of the E-Government Summit 2007 will include decisions-makers from government agencies around the world.
Mr Gary Fung, Managing Director, Zenith Events Management Pte Ltd, said “Singapore, which was ranked first in Accenture’s annual e-Government report earlier this year, leads governments in engaging citizens through the internet. The E-Government Summit at GES 2007 is co-organised by the Singapore e-Government Leadership Centre (eGL), to share the advances Singapore has made, with the rest of the world. We are also pleased to announce that Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, and Second Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, has kindly agreed to be the Guest of Honour.”
Through GES 2007, technology companies will also be able to network with potential customers, partners, and investors. The event will act as a melting pot where CXOs, venture capitalists and entrepreneurs work synergistically to explore and exploit ideas and innovations to facilitate growth and business opportunities globally.
GES 2007 will be held from 12th–15th November this year at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre. The event is jointly presented by the Singapore Business Federation and the Singapore Economic Development Board, and organised by Zenith Events Management.
“As a manufacturer of electronics components and modules, Murata has strived to be an innovator in electronics by pursuing originality in our products, processes and technologies. Through GES 2007, we want to specially showcase our homemade MURATA BOY, a bicycle-riding robot who will perform amazing stunts and tricks, for the audience. GES 2007 is an ideal platform to feature our contributions to technology. The science of MURATA BOY is contributed by Murata’s innovative technologies, which are also directly applicable to and will affect the lifestyles of everyone,” said Mr Masatoshi Koike, Managing Director at Murata Electronics Singapore Pte Ltd.
“This year, I hope to leverage upon GES as the one of the world’s premier networking and exhibition events to launch new products to both prospective and existing customers. We’re very excited to see the reaction of visitors and fellow exhibitors to our products. This year, we will be launching RIMRoD (Roaming Interactive Multimedia Robot Display), a human-sized robot that carries an interactive LCD in front and a poster-sized LCD behind. RIMRoD is set to be the new-age sandwich-board-man,” said Ms Sofi Hon, Director of Business and Operations at Neublick Pte Ltd.
