Tata Steel, the first private integrated Steel plant, completed 100 successful years of its existence this August. To commemorate this grand occasion, the company has planned a host of activities throughout the year. One of the key highlights is the Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz Competition that will travel across a number of towns and cities in India. The travelling quiz has already set foot in Ranchi and Raipur. In addition to these cities, the quiz contest will travel to Jamadoba, West Bokaro, Naomundi, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Tarapur, Kolkata, Haldia and Bangalore followed by the Grand Finale in Jamshedpur.
The Inter-School Centenary Quiz is being organized with the objective to promote the culture of quest for knowledge amongst students, enabling them to emerge as enriched well-informed and global citizens. As this is Tata Steel's Centenary Year, the Quiz is also special as the top three winners from all centres will be called to Jamshedpur for the Grand finale. The mega Quiz is scheduled to take place later this year in the Steel City, genesis ground of Tata Steel. Everywhere, the Quiz will be conducted by the famous Quizmaster Mr. Giri Balasubramaniam a.k.a Pick brain, who is known for his unique quizzing skills and sense of humor. Using the concept of the Quiz Contest Tata Steel wishes to provide the youth with an opportunity to showcase their mettle in the battle of knowledge.
Social development, community engaging activities, path-breaking initiatives for social upliftment, campaigns and events to promote the youth and creating benchmarks in the CSR, are some of the facets that sum up 100 years of Tata Steel, a global enterprise which has its footprint across the world.
All students in the age group of 13-18 years who possess the intellectual acumen are eligible to participate in the quiz. There is no entry fee and each team should have two students from the same school. However, in Kolkata, the Quiz is open for children of employees of Tata Steel only. Promising to be thrilling battle of wits and knowledge, the quiz will cover a wide range of subjects like general awareness, sports, history, geography and science.
It is a proud moment to celebrate 100 years of the first private sector steel plant in India, which had started with a production capacity of 1, 00,000 tonnes has today transformed into a global giant with a production capacity of almost 26 MT. Continuing this trend, Tata Steel Centenary Inter – School Quiz promises to be a platform for increasing the competitive attitude amongst the youth which is essential for the building of the nation.
