Tata Motors resolves compensation issues with Nano vendors
Tata Motors said on Thursday that all issues on compensation with the component vendors for the Nano have been resolved. Most vendors are expected to shift their facilities to the vendor park in Sanand, Gujarat, by March.
Meanwhile, a team of officials from Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) and West Bengal Power Development Corporation (WBPDCL) on Thursday visited Singur, the site of the Nano small car project abandoned by the Tatas.
The delegation included S C Mittal, General Manager (Marketing) of BHEL, and the WBPDCL Managing Director, Debasis Sen. Sources in the State power utility said that the team found the land for the project suitable for setting up a power plant in joint venture.
"WBPDCL and BHEL officials visited Tata's abandoned Nano car project site and discussed the possibility of setting up a 1600 MW power plant in joint venture. However, the discussions are at very preliminary stage," a State government source said.
