Keeping pace with the booming demand for hotel rooms in Bangalore, Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces announced its plans to launch a new business hotel in Bangalore. The Taj has entered into a Licensing Agreement with Naveen Hotels Pvt. Ltd. (NHPL), for a new hotel at Yeshwantpur, Bangalore. Located approximately 15 km from M. G. Road and 25 km from the upcoming international airport, the hotel is scheduled to open by April 1, 2009 and will be operated under the Taj Business Hotels brand. The Taj has been associated with Naveen Hotels for over 25 years and are also partners in the Taj Residency, Bangalore. With new hotels in Yeshwantpur and in ITPL (Whitefield), the Taj now has 2 new Business hotels under development in Bangalore.
Designed by international design consultants brought in by the Taj, the new hotel will be part of a mixed-use development. The site will also include a commercial complex and residential blocks. The hotel is located with clear access from Tumkur Road and is on the Ring Road. When it launches in 2009, the hotel will be the only city hotel in close proximity to the new International airport.
Spread over a 4.5-acre plot, this 12-storey structure will have 350 rooms. The hotel will also provide a host of guest amenities, which include 3 restaurants, 1 bar and extensive banqueting space (approximately 22,000 sq ft).
Mr. Jamshed Daboo, Chief Operating Officer, Taj Business Hotels, said, "Bangalore is a very important market which is currently facing a big gap in demand and supply. The city has great potential, which we have tapped through our various hotel formats, from the luxurious Taj West End to the Gateway Hotel. This move is part of the Business Hotel strategy to expand our reach in cities, which are of importance to the business traveler. We are very happy to partner with Naveen Hotels once again. Yeshwantpur is currently witnessing significant commercial development, with telecom, auto and textile companies setting up their offices here. We believe Yeshwantpur will emerge as a strategic suburb of Bangalore linking the new international
airport to the corridor of development planned along Mysore Road, thus presenting an excellent opportunity for setting up a new age business hotel."
