Sun Pharma gets US FDA nod for generic hypertension drug

A subsidiary of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries has received US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) approval for its abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) to market a generic version of Valeant International’s Cardizem CD, Diltiazem Hcl extended release capsules.

A subsidiary of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries has received US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) approval for its abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) to market a generic version of Valeant International’s Cardizem CD, Diltiazem Hcl extended release capsules.


Diltiazem Hcl extended release capsules are indicated for the treatment of hypertension, for the management of chronic stable angina and angina due to coronary artery spasm, Sun Pharma said Monday.


Diltiazem Hcl extended release capsules in 120mg, 180mg, 240mg and 360mg strengths have annual sales of around USD 300 million in the US, it said.


Sun Pharma shares Monday closed down 1% at Rs 504.45 on NSE.
