Mr. Bhaskar Pramanik, President India GEM, Sun Microsystems along with Mr, S.D Shibhulal, Co-founder, member of the Board of Directors of Infosys, inaugurated the high-technology Learning Centre today
With special Sun Authorized Instructors who are technical experts delivering lectures and hands-on experiences, the center aims at empowering the workforce on prevalent technologies and the needs of the future. Sun's Learning Services’ comprehensive offerings enable rapid deployment of Sun's solutions for software application development, system administration, storage and lifecycle management.
This is the second such Learning Centre in India after Bangalore, which opened in March this year.
The learning centre will offer training in Java and XML technologies, Identity Management, Solaris OS coursers, Sun Java Composite Application suite (Java CAPS), Servers and High Availability, Storage and Sun Hardware systems.
Speaking at the inauguration, Bhaskar Pramanik said, “In the dynamic environment that the IT industry operates in, keeping up to date with changing technologies is a must for IT professionals. Further, a 'one-size fits all' approach will restrict the learning in this industry. The objective behind setting up these centres is to provide IT professionals in the country more opportunities and access to cutting edge technologies. At Sun, we offer training in a wide variety of options to provide flexibility and control and this dedicated Learning Centre is a step in that direction. Chennai is home to a large talent pool and this drove our decision to set up a Sun Learning Centre here.
Mr, S.D Shibhulal, Co-founder, Member of the Board of Directors of Infosys, said, “ If there is one thing that is constant in this industry, it is learning. Continuous learning will have a positive effect on an individual’s performance and a cumulative impact on the industry as a whole. As we work towards taking the India IT industry into a role of greater importance on the world stage, the onus lies with us as corporates to pool in our expertise and experience to create infrastructure that will help IT professionals keep themselves up to date with the latest advancements in technology. Am happy to note that Sun has taken a very strong initiative in this direction and wish them the very best in their endeavor to create more opportunities for IT professionals in this country.”
Sun Learning Services provides role-specific learning paths and certification programmes for each curriculum that work as a guide and help individual learning experience.
