Sun Microsystems India and Tech Mahindra have announced a strategic alliance for the rollout of IPTV services in the Indian and Asia Pacific markets.
Talking to presspersons, Mr K.P. Unnikrishnan, Director, StrategicAlliances Sun Microsystems India, said as part of this alliance, Sun and Tech Mahindra along with AMD (Advanced Micro Devices Inc.) would jointly set up the next generation IPTV lab at the Tech Mahindra facility here. This is Sun's first alliance in the domestic market for IPTV services.
The IPTV lab at Tech Mahindra, he said would feature solutions from the consortium of solution partners, including Digisoft, Envivio, Harmonic, I-Make, Verimatrix and Mototech and Sun's streaming system. It may be recalled that Sun had introduced the Sun Streaming system in April, which is the scalable video delivery platform for cable and telecommunication operators, which help the operator increase subscriber revenue by offering new video-based services and personalised video streams to each consumer.
Mr Unnikrishnan noted that the lab would showcase a pre-integrated end-to-end IPTV systems for Tier 1, Tier 2 and 3 service providers. This lab would also allow customers, OEMs and ISVs to test the Sun Streaming System's capabilities, architect and validate an end-to-end solution.
