Suashish Diamonds appoints Vijay K Chopra

Suashish Diamonds Limited today reported the appointment of Mr. Vijay Kumar Chopra as Non-executive Independent Director on its Board of Directors. Earlier this year, it had reported the appointment of Mr. S K Mitra as Non-executive Independent Director.

A Chartered Accountant and a veteran banker, Mr. Chopra began his career with Central Bank of India , before being appointed a Director with IDBI Bank . From 2003 to 2004 he served as the Chairman and Managing Director of SIDBI besides holding additional charge of CMD of Punjab & Sindh Bank . Between 2004 to 2006, he was the CMD of Corporation Bank . Between 2006 to March 2008, he served as a Whole Member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

An MSc from Kolkatta and MBA from US, S K Mitra had acted as the Managing Director of Birla Global Finance Ltd.  He was primarily responsible for building the financial services business of the A V Birla group since July 1994.  He is also a Director in the companies like Hexaware Technologies Ltd., Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd., Birla Global Finance Ltd., Aditya Birla Management Corporation Ltd.  He is an active member of the managing committee of the Association of Mutual Funds of India (AMFI).
