Hold Sagar Cements, says Sharmila Joshi

Sharmila Joshi of is of the view that one may hold Sagar Cements.

Sharmila Joshi of told CNBC-TV18, "That is the sort of uncertainty at this point in time whether it will be a half percent cut on gross domestic product (GDP) as some people have suggested or as Manmohan Singh said the other day, 2 percent, so you do not know. My guess is that the real number will be anywhere between half percent and 1 percent. So, even if you go by that, there is going to be a definitely impact on cement. As it is, Q2 was not good because the good monsoons meant that dispatches, etc. did not happen to the kind of tune you would expect or what we had been seeing rather in cement companies over the last couple of years. Now, Q3 also seems to be under question."

She further added, 'In terms of valuation, they are nicely priced and you do not really foresee too much of growth. But if you are long-term, you can continue to hold. Again, there are a lot of smaller things, a lot of details that we can talk about between the North and South, South is apparently doing better. So, if you take a valuation perspective, if you take going forward, business perspective, no doubt there will be a slowdown, but I would expect recovery also to come into cement over the next 5-6 months of time. Given all that, I would say just hold on Sagar Cements and take a call a couple of quarters down the line."
