Gurgaon based startup MobiKwik has registered over 20 lakh downloads within the first two days of launch of it’s lightest mobile wallet Mobikwik Lite, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

The wallet consumes just a few hundred kilobytes of memory space unlike other wallets which run into several megabytes.

Memory usage is a critical feature for all apps in India, which largely uses low cost smartphones  that have less storage space. India has about 350 million smartphone users. This number is pegged to increase 500 million users within the next 24 months.

“MobiKwik Lite has a very simple interface for the sellers and their customers do not even need to download the app to make payments. We hope to reach the milestone of 10 million downloads by early 2017,” Upasana Taku, Co-founder of MobiKwik said.

MobiKwik ‘Lite’ is less than 1 MB in size can be downloaded directly by a merchant or retailer by giving a missed call to a number from any Android smartphone.

The app also enables users in receiving payments through UPI and wallets. The company is also planning to launch an offline version of the app.
