Spanco Telesystems and Solutions Ltd, one of the leading Telecom System Integration companies in India, today announced its foray into domestic BPO services.  The new venture, Spanco BPO has set up two flagship customer support centres in Gurgaon and Mumbai to provide back office and contact centre services to domestic clients. These will encompass customers across diverse segments including Financial Services, Insurance, Telecom, Entertainment, Retail and Hospitality sectors in India. Spanco BPO plans to invest upwards of Rs. 400 crores in growing its presence across India over the next two years and will set up facilities across multiple cities including Chennai, Jaipur, Mysore, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Noida. Spanco BPO currently employs over 3,000 people and is expected to grow around 5,000 employees in the first phase of expansion. Built to international specifications the state-of-the-art facilities in Gurgaon and Mumbai will be spread over 2 lakh sq. feet with a capacity of 2200 production seats. The company aims to increase the capacity to 15000 seats with over 25000 employees by financial year 2009.

 

Commenting on the decision to enter the domestic BPO space, Sandeep Soni, Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer, Spanco BPO said "We believe this is the best time to enter the domestic BPO market given the huge emerging opportunities within the country. Given Spanco's erstwhile experience in the domestic space and proven technology competency, we will seek to differentiate ourselves by providing complete Business Process Outsourcing and end to end strategic outsourcing solutions for organizations in India".  

 

As per the recent NASSCOM figures, the domestic BPO industry stands at USD 2 billion currently and has been growing at a significant 60% CAGR over the last 4-5 years, clearly testifying to India's rapid growth.

 

To ensure safety for its employees, Spanco has developed vehicle tracking system called "Su Rakshaa" a RFID product based on GSM technology which they plan to patent and provide the same to other BPO's post its successful implementation. Amongst other significant wins, Spanco was recently awarded a 10 year contract to manage call centre services across India for the Indian Railways.

 

Listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange, Spanco has been growing rapidly and today has presence across US, UK and the Middle East. Credited with creating and deploying end-to-end technology platforms for multinational companies, public sector units and Defense sector, its client list includes some of the leading names in the outsourcing industry.
