Consumer electronics company Sony India is eyeing revenue of Rs 7.5-8 billion from the notebook segment in FY11, a senior official said on Tuesday.
"During the end of the current financial year, we are looking at a revenue of around Rs 5 billion from consumer notebook segment and expect it to grow to Rs 7.5-8 billion in the next financial year," Sachin Thapar, head of IT, SE & PC sales and marketing, told reporters.
In FY09, revenue from the consumer notebook segment stood at Rs 4.5 billion, which was 13% of Sony

"The market demand has revived offlate. Going by the present trend, we have revised estimated growth rates for the next year in the consumer notebook segment, to 30% from 20%," he said.
"Currently our market share is 15% in notebooks and by March 2011 we are targeting a market share of 20%, by selling around 200,000 units," Thapar said during a product launch in the city.
The major volume driver for the company would be the sub- Rs 45,000 segment in notebooks, which contributes 60% of the company's total notebook sales, he said.
