Shasun Chemicals & Drugs , a  pharma company focused on manufacture of finished dosage forms, APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) and intermediates for global pharmaceutical companies, today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) has approved the company's formulation facility in Puducherry.

 

Commenting on the development, Mr. Govindarajan, CEO and MD of Shasun Chemicals & Drugs said, "With the formulation facility having already undergone successful MHRA (U.K), and now US FDA audit, we are in the process of diversifying our business by making a foray into formulation exports, predominately into the regulated markets namely USA, Canada and Europe. We have also forged marketing alliances  with two multi - national companies and expect launch of the products in the USA by H2 FY2008."

 

He also added, "The partners of Shasun have filed three ANDAs so far and are expected to file another 8 to 9 this current financial year.  The formulation business would start contributing revenue from this year and is expected to ramp up to Rs. 100 crore by FY 2010."

 

Shasun's Formulation Division manufactures formulations for solid dosage products. The Division is a vertically integrated formulations partner for the pharmaceutical industry. Its services include formulation research and development activities, analytical method development and validation, scale-up, technology transfer as well as clinical supplies manufacturing to full scale commercial manufacturing of oral solid dosage forms.
