Satyam Computer Services will invest around Rs 800 crore in the next three to four years on creating infrastructure in Tamil Nadu. This includes building a new campus in Chennai and Madurai, according to its director and Senior Vice-President, Mr Subu D. Subramanian.

The Hyderabad-based software company will build its "Chennai campus" in 50 acres of land at Elcot SEZ in Sholinganallur on the Rajiv Gandhi Road (IT highway). The first phase of the campus will be ready by June 2008, and once fully done the campus could accommodate around 10,000 employees, he told newspersons.

Madurai campus

In Madurai, the company was allotted 50 acres of land by the State Government and documentation is under process. In three years the company plans to set up a campus there and employ around 3,500 employees. Madurai will be Satyam's first tier II city foray in Tamil Nadu, he said.

Employee growth

Satyam will also more than double its employee strength in Chennai to around 20,000 from the present 8,000 in the next three years. Next to Hyderabad, Satyam has its second biggest operations in the city, he said.

Satyam's founder chairman Mr B. Ramalinga Raju; co-founder and CEO, Mr Rama Raju; and Mr Subramanian today met the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Mr M. Karunanidhi, to explain him on the company's projects in Chennai and Madurai.
