Satyam Computer Services , Ltd. (NYSE:SAY), a leading global consulting and information technology services company, today opened a 150-seat development center in North Sydney. The facility, which will serve as a Regional Solutions Hub, demonstrates Satyam's commitment to Australia (it also has development centers in Melbourne, and at York Street in the Sydney Central Business District), as well as its continuous efforts to bolster its Virtual Global Delivery Model.

P. P. Shukla, High Commissioner of India, and B. Rama Raju, Satyam's co-founder and chief executive officer, officially opened the center at a ceremony this afternoon.

"Australia is an important marketplace for Satyam and this new center will offer the same expertise and project management capabilities typified by our Australian operations. These capabilities will provide customers throughout the region with the improved agility and responsiveness they need to excel in a competitive business environment," said Raju.

The opening is the latest in a series of regionally focused Satyam investments, including a recent agreement with the government in Nanjing to build a 2,500-seat development campus, which will serve both multinational and domestic Chinese customers. Like the one in China, the new Sydney solution center will be able to provide onshore and offshore services to regional clients due to the availability of mature communication and IT talent here.

"We are very pleased to establish this Regional Solutions Hub in Sydney, which will bolster our efforts to create development centers focused on data warehousing, enterprise applications, and managed services," said Deepak Nangia, Country Manager, Australia and New Zealand.
