SatNav Technologies, India's GPS Pioneer has tied up with major retail giants making their products available to customers in more than 100 stores across the major metros in the country. SatNav has invested around 10 crores into their retail strategy across 6 cities - Delhi, Noida, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad. The strategy includes dedicated counters, earmarked GPS zones and store specific branding on the products to be done on a continuous basis.

SatNav has tied up with retail chains like Croma, Staples and Reliance AutoZone to name a few. It has also tied-up with E-zone in a store-in-store concept to give the people of this country a feel of the GPS devices in their own neighbourhoods and aims to have 120, 000 customers across India this financial year. The stores will have promoters of SatNav who will help the customer understand the technicalities involved in handling such devices along with the current GPS technology. SatNav is planning to open many more such stores in association with a few more retail chains within the next 12 months.

SatNav assisted stores will have SatGuide products like Personal Navigation Device (PND), Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), Navigation Software for Laptops and Windows mobile, and Bluetooth receivers. The PDAs and PNDs will have pre-installed SatGuide in it so that customers can get the live demo of these products at the stores itself. SatGuide comes with ONE INDIA map with detailed maps of 200+ cities, over 1 Million Points of Interest and offers map upgrades on a regular basis. In addition, SatNav offers extended customer support to all its customers.

SatNav has a multi-pronged strategy to not only grow the GPS market in the country but emerge as the leading player in the process. It aims to gain from the first mover advantage it has since the time it developed navigation systems in 2002 and commercially launched it in 2005.

In line with the above strategy, apart from regular devices like PNDs, the company markets PDAs which can be navigation cum office assistance devices. SatGuide is very popular on windows phones like ASUS, HTC, i-mate, HP and others which opens up another huge market. Adding to the above is the laptop/desktop software which is a unique planning tool for all those who want to have information at their fingertips before they venture out on personal or business trips.

Commenting on this development, Mr. Amit Prasad, Founder MD and CEO of SatNav Technologies said, "GPS is a growing market that has a great potential, early movers like us need to focus on educating the market. A huge percentage of people are now aware of GPS technology and want to see our live demos. Our stores will enable customers to get a hands-on experience of the GPS devices and buy the SatGuide product suitable for their needs. To give the GPS segment a wider perspective we are adding extensively to our product portfolio and creating new vertical markets like laptop/desktop software."
