Sage Software announced today the opening of its new facility in Richmond to house the Canadian operations and global development teams for its market-leading Sage Accpac ERP and Simply Accounting by Sage product lines. The new building, which Sage Software has leased on a long-term basis, is immediately south of the former Sage Software Richmond operations centre, and is located at 13888 Wireless Way. The new campus currently houses approximately 400 employees, with room for up to 650.
PK Group of Companies, in consortium with Wireless Way Equities Inc., a subsidiary of Greystone Managed Investments Inc. and Tonko Realty Advisors Ltd., built the new facility for Sage Software, whose Sage Accpac ERP and Simply Accounting by Sage product lines have been key drivers of the technology industry in the Greater Vancouver area for nearly 30 years. Today’s opening is the culmination of construction, which began with the initial groundbreaking ceremony on June 29, 2006.
“Sage has a long history in Canada with our Accpac and Simply Accounting lines that pioneered computerized accounting and continue to deliver innovation to our customers,” said Laurie Schultz, Sage Software general manager for Sage Accpac and Simply Accounting by Sage. “The products we develop here are Canadian market leaders, and Sage Accpac is also among the leaders in a number of global markets.”
“Growing operations for Sage Accpac and Simply Accounting by Sage created a crucial need for an even bigger physical footprint in Canada,” said Nina Smith, Sage Software president, Business Management Division. “This new facility is a stamp of our commitment to maintain a vital business presence in British Columbia.”
The new Sage Software campus facility has many new amenities, highlighted by a new User Centered Design (UCD) lab, which is an integral part of the company’s overall ‘customer-connected’ strategy. Sage Software uses UCD labs companywide to research product usability and the needs of small and medium-sized businesses (SMB’s) to help guide the company in developing new products and services, such as Sage Accpac ERP, and Simply Accounting by Sage.
With well-established product lines designed to support a range of businesses, from home-based to multinational companies with hundreds of employees, Sage Software has the strongest market presence throughout Canada. IDC Canada ranks Sage Software as the leading provider of enterprise application software to small and medium-sized businesses (SMB’s)1 throughout Canada, based on revenue figures researched by IDC for calendar 2006.
