Edible oil player Ruchi Soya on Monday said it has signed an agreement with Pune-based Thermax Ltd for setting up 1 MW biomass power generation project at its Washim plant in eastern Maharashtra.
"This project will not only help us in utilisation of biomass at the Ruchi Soya crushing plant at Washim, but also generate additional income for local community. Biomass, which is not useful as animal feed, can be used in this power project, the company's managing director, Dinesh Shahra, said in a release. The plant will be executed by Thermax, an energy and environment solutions provider, using technology acquired from the Netherlands, the release said.
