Reliance Industries has received a green rating for five of its projects.
Several companies including Reliance Industries were felicitated with the Green Championship awards for their efforts in the green building movement in India at the 15th CII-IGBC Green Building Congress 2017 held in Jaipur on Thursday.
“So far Reliance Industries has received a green rating for five of its projects and we are in the process of applying for green certification for five operational data centres and for the villages that have been adopted by Reliance Foundation,” said ML Sinhal, senior group vice president, after receiving the IGBC Green Champion Award on behalf of the company.
Elaborating, he said that among the projects that have received a green rating by IGBC include the HN Reliance Foundation Hospital with a LEED Gold rating, the Dhirubhai Ambani International School and the Reliance Corporate Park that has been rated as a Platinum Green Campus by IGBC.
“We have also received the IGBC trophy for our Jamnagar township spread across 1,000 acres,” he said, adding “Over 30 lakh trees have been planted there.”
Other companies that received the award included Indian Railways, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, SBI, ICICI, Carrier-United Technologies, Agarwal & Agarwal Interior Designer, RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, Godrej Green Building Consultancy Services, Thomas Associates Architects and Orbit Group.
“DMRC received the IGBC award for empowering 54 employees to become IGBC accredited professionals. This will enable us to register projects as green online and not depend on consultants. We have been awarded a platinum rating for 11 underground station projects and for a park project in Delhi that we have constructed using unused material from our projects and obsolete equipment. This is perhaps the first time that a park has been conferred with a platinum rating,” said Anoop Kumar Gupta, director – electrical, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited.Disclaimer: Reliance Industries Ltd. is the sole beneficiary of Independent Media Trust which controls Network18 Media & Investments Ltd.
