Reliance Communications’ customers and shareholders from Kedarnath to Kanyakumari and from Kutch to Kamrup were inspired, enchanted, captivated and spellbound by what they were watching on their mobile phones yesterday. The occasion: Reliance Communications’ Third Annual General Meeting in Mumbai.
The entire proceedings of this AGM, which lasted nearly four hours, were streamed on the Reliance Mobile World across the nation. This is the first ever Annual General Meeting showcased in its entirety on a mobile phone anywhere in the world - another first from Reliance Communications. The entire service was offered free of any download charges and customers paid only network usage charges of 10paise per 10Kbytes.
This unique service provided convenience to its shareholders who could not be present for this important event. “We are proud to be first telecom service provider to bring this event to millions of our subscribers. This clearly showcases the best in class multimedia VAS services and the Mobile TV platform capabilities. Initially, they could not believe that watching the video of the AGM as it was happening in Mumbai was possible” said Mahesh Prasad, President, Applications, Solutions and Content Group, Reliance Communications from the venue of AGM in Mumbai.
Hosted on the Reliance Mobile World (also known as R World), the multimedia suite of applications of Reliance Mobile, the ‘Mobile TV’ menu offers unique experience in viewing news, latest movie flicks, popular TV shows, music video, and devotional services. Reliance’s Mobile TV service is unmatched in the country in terms of the number of channels offered, the quality and service availability across the nation.
The channels currently available on Reliance Mobile World include Aaj Tak online, NDTV online, Sun TV online, Times Now Online, CNBC TV 18 online, Asianet News Online, CNN International Online, IBN7 online amongst others.
Video streaming of RCOM AGM is in line with the emerging trend among the Indian corporates to leverage Reliance platform to make their events watchable on the mobile phones. Reliance Mobile had streamed the keynote address of Steve Ballmer, CEO, Microsoft at IndiMix ’06 held in November addressing Web designers, business professionals and web developers. Recently on June 4th, Mobile Monday, a mobile industry forum event was also streamed across the country.
