Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that Ravi Sharma will lead the South Asia Regional Unit.
Ravi Sharma will be responsible for the company's operations in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives and Sri Lanka.
Prior to this appointment, Ravi Sharma was President of Alcatel's activities in South Asia. He joined Alcatel in January 2003 as Country Senior Officer for India & Nepal and was promoted as President South Asia in 2004.
Prior to working at Alcatel, Ravi Sharma was Regional Director of Europe* Star, the satellite operating company of Alcatel providing satellite capacity solutions to Broadcasting and Telecom operators. He was responsible for establishing the company and its operations in Asia.
Before joining Europe*Star in 1999, Ravi Sharma was Vice President, Market Development, of British Telecom. He was responsible for establishing British Telecom's Sales and Customer Support operations in the SAARC region. Ravi Sharma had joined British Telecom in 1995 with wide experience of more than 10 years in Telecom & Corporate Affairs with UB Group, one of the most diversified Indian multinational.
Ravi Sharma holds an Engineering degree from IIT Roorkee, India and a Masters degree in Business Administration.
