Rangsons Electronics, the Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) major, and a part of the renowned NR Group, Mysore, hosted the EMS Global Alliance's annual meet . Representatives of the Alliance from Brazil (Teikon), US (SMC), Sweden (NOTE), China (Radiance), India (Rangsons Electronics) participated in the meet and finalized their strategy for the year ahead.

 

The key take-out from the EMS Alliance meet is the increased emphasis on India. The members of the Alliance concluded that India will serve not only as a solid manufacturing base, but is all set to become a huge customer base as well, with global electronics majors setting up operations in India. The electronics industry in India is pegged at US $ 25 Billion today, and is expected to grow to US $ 70 B by 2009. Currently EMS has a 3% share at US $773 Million.

 

Speaking on the successful conclusion of the EMS Global Alliance meet, Mr. Pavan Ranga, CEO of Rangsons Electronics and co-founder EMS global alliance said, "We are very happy to host EMS Global Alliance's annual meet in Bangalore. With the Global EMS industry growing at 12% CAGR to reach US$ 200 Billion by 2009, we realize that India has a lot to contribute. We envisage high growth rates in EMS industry and also, consolidation and movement towards Asia and particularly India. We are hungry for our share of the EMS industry. We expect the Indian EMS market to grow to US $ 2 Billion by 2009."

The other important decisions / key initiatives taken at EMS Alliance meet includes consolidated global component buys and close - to - market manufacturing globally.
