Ranbaxy will enter the US markets eight weeks prior to pediatric exclusivity. The total annual sales of Flomax is at USD 1.2 billion in the US.
Sources said that Ranbaxy is likely to get USD 200-250 million, during Tamsulosin exclusivity.
One more set of good news coming in for Ranbaxy, analysts said. The company has gone into an out of court settlement with Boehringer. They will be able to launch Flomax, which is a Tamsulosin, in the US market on an absolute exclusivity for 180 days. This is a USD 1.2 billion drug. Since Ranbaxy is launching it on an exclusivity basis, there will not be too much of price erosion and can be a big upside for the company, they added.
Ranbaxy already has exclusivity rights to Lipitor, analysts said. The company would most likely launch Lipitor in March 2010. They will be launching Flomax in the first half of FY11. Analysts see significant revenues from this one. By 2009, Ranbaxy will be already through with Valtrex. So, FY09, FY10 and now the first half of FY11 have been streamlined for exclusivity launches and this is really good for Ranbaxy, they added.
