Raaja Kanwar: Taking the unusual path to expand ApolloPublished on Thu, Mar 18, 2010 at 18:09 | Source : CNBC-TV18 Updated at Thu, Mar 18, 2010 at 18:46
Q: How much is Apollo Tyres going to put in this business? A: None Q: We had your brother and your father both on this show a few months ago and we were talking to them about the succession plan, so it's all clear in terms of how the succession will actually unfold? A: Absolutely. Q: So you will continue to look after Apollo International and all of the other newer businesses that you drive? A: Yes. My entire focus is to build up these businesses. Q: So how have you changed over the years because you have done a whole host of things from the lottery business to UFO to now logistics? A: That's a question you should ask my wife. I feel I have changed over time, I have calmed down and being able to carry everyone in my company as a team and being able to motivate them is something that I have learnt over the years. The biggest things that I have learnt working in India is how to be patient because when you are dealing with things relating anywhere there is a government agency involved. Q: Especially now in your logistics business? A: With the UFO also, I used to be sitting at the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, in the North and the South Block, here you really go after stuff which is not required because you are doing something good for your country so whether its on the logistic side or on the digital cinema side. So you want them to say, we welcome you with open hands, but that's not the case.
