Q: Yours is an unusual story in that sense because it's not very often that you see the younger sibling getting into the flagship company, but yours was as considered deliberate decision not to go the Apollo Tyres way? A: I was studying in the US and I was in conversation with my father a lot about coming back to India and that time India was announcing its liberalization. I said I must come back to India to check it out and see what I should do when I come back here. I feel that the little entrepreneur blood that I have of my father's made me say that I just want to go back and be able to build something like he did from scratch. So I spoke to him and I told him that I love what you are doing, but I would really like to do something on my own.
