Engineering, construction company Punj Lloyd has entered into a joint venture with Kenya's Intex Construction to execute the Loruk-Barpelo road project in the African nation. The contract is valued at Rs 285 crore, Punj Lloyd said on Thursday.

The project involves construction of 62 km road, located 300 km north of Kenya's capital Nairobi. The duration of the project is 30 months, the company said.

Punj Lloyd's CEO - Infrastructure SS Raju said highway development will be the group's core business of growth in ensuing years.

Punj Lloyd also said that it has won Rs 81 crore worth SEZ [special economic zone] project in Gurgaon, Haryana.

Punj Lloyd shares closed up 4.9% at Rs 39.95 on NSE on Thursday.
