PriceGrabber.com®, an Experian company, today announced the launch of ShopGreen, which offers consumers a comprehensive comparison shopping section of “green” products. The new section is available at http://shopgreen.pricegrabber.com and currently offers a selection of more than 20,000 products. Initial vendors with products offered on ShopGreen include Staples, Office Depot, Hemp Clothiers and Greenculture.
“As ‘green shopping’ emerges as a new category with thousands of products, it can be difficult for environmentally conscious consumers to navigate the space,” said Ron LaPierre, president of PriceGrabber.com. “ShopGreen provides a broad selection of green products in one cohesive section of the site, enabling consumers to make the most informed purchase decisions, at the best price.”
As part of its investment in sustainability, PriceGrabber.com will donate 5 percent of its ShopGreen profits to leading environmental nonprofit organizations. Registered site visitors can vote to select the organization that will receive the donation, which will be given monthly. The inaugural organizations include the Nature Conservancy, The Trust for Public Land, Environmental Energy Study Institute and
In addition to including environmentally friendly products in categories such as Home, His/Hers and Office, ShopGreen will feature a blog offering easy tips on leading a greener life and discussing ecological issues. Similar to other categories on PriceGrabber.com, ShopGreen will continue to provide users with additional resources, such as product reviews and merchant ratings and reviews, to find the right product, at the best price, from the right retailer. Among the many companies signed on to participate and offer their products through the ShopGreen section, PriceGrabber.com has secured several featured sponsors, including Sephora, Backcountry.com, Planetshoes.com and Novica. The launch of ShopGreen reinforces PriceGrabber.com’s commitment to being the most innovative and comprehensive site in the online comparison shopping industry.
“The Internet has emerged as a vehicle where decisions on key issues are made. Specific to the environment, the Web can not only provide education about the issues, but it also gives consumers access to choices as they determine their buying preferences,” said Steve Lippman, vice president of social research for Trillium Asset Management, the oldest and largest independent investment management firm dedicated solely to socially responsible investing. “As interest in the environment increases, Internet resources such as PriceGrabber.com’s comprehensive ShopGreen guide provide a useful resource to green shoppers, or any shopper, who wants to make a positive impact with their purchases.”
