The Positive Health Awards were institutionalized last year as an annual tradition of recognizing individuals who have created medical miracles through the demonstration of their instinct for survival. With courage and will power, they have beaten the odds to recover from seemingly hopeless conditions. It salutes those who have struggled and survived disease and disability to lead normal healthy lives.
Some awardees from last year include, Nitesh Sonawane, who lost his eyes in the Mumbai bomb blasts of 1993. Undeterred, he went on to become a professional musician.
Another achiever was Mitali Goradia, a student who battled cancer at the tender age of 12. today, she is like any other normal child. She attends school, draws, paints and excels in dancing. We salute her zest for life. We seek to recognize similar outstanding examples of personal courage.
Speaking on the call for nominations for the 2nd annual Positive Health Awards, 2007, Dr. Mukesh Batra, CMD, Dr. Batra’s Positive Health Clinics, said, “The will to live is probably the greatest determinant between those who survive and those who succumb to a similar life-threatening condition. As a medical professional, I am awed by the strength of the human spirit, how disease will boost it in some and sap it in others. In my many years of practice, I have seen some remarkable recoveries that cannot be attributed to medicine alone. I have always said that a doctor’s best friend is a patient who won’t give up. Dr. Batra’s ® has instituted the Positive Health Awards as a tribute to this spirit and as a reaffirmation of our commitment to all round health and positivism.”
The second season of the Positive Health Awards will be held on 5th October, 2007 at The Ball Room, Taj Land’s End, Bandra (West), Mumbai – 400 050, in a grand ceremony. Many imminent celebrities would be present to hand over the awards to the achievers.
