Discussing new technological advances in the field of trichology, Mr. Stevens said, "New techniques of hair follicle cloning will take trichology practices to a new level worldwide.' He also added that 'Our association with Dr. Batra's ® - the world's largest chain of homeopathy clinics will help bring the latest advancements in hair treatment through homeopathy to India. We look forward to add maximum value in the field of Trichology through this exclusive tie up.' Hair follicular cloning is a new technique of hair restoration where hair follicles are produced from the cells in dermal papilla. Baldness is caused when the cells in dermal papilla are destroyed due to disease, trauma and so on. In this new technique, the cells from the dermal papilla are surgically removed and subsequently cloned in a laboratory. Hundreds of these cloned cells are then injected into the balding area on the scalp. This technique of hair cloning is currently under experimentation and will arrive any where between 2009 and 2012. Adding to this, Dr. Mukesh Batra, CMD, DBPHCPL said, 'Hair loss is a common complaint in clinical dermatology. Through our association with Stevens' Trichology Practices we endeavor to bring the best available treatment to our patients whose trust we have lived up to for over 25 years. This partnership will ensure that we remain abreast of the latest development in hair treatment from which our patients will benefit.' Deputy MD, DBPHCPL Dr. Akshay Batra who is the first Indian to qualify from the London Trichological Society as well as receive its prestigious Robert Olding Award said, 'Trichology is the science of hair and progress in this field has led to diagnosis of various diseases through examination of hair related issues. The confluence of trichology with homeopathy will lead to a paradigm shift in clinical treatment and hair care, and will meet the challenge of taking specialised cost effective treatment to the masses with a personal touch.'
