Royal Philips Electronics (AEX:PHI, NYSE:PHG), a global leader in Healthcare, Consumer Lifestyle and Lighting, today announced the appointment of Mr. Vivek Sharma as Chief Marketing Officer for the Indian sub-continent. In this role he is responsible for the overall performance of Philips’ India marketing organization. He will be charged with the responsibility for development and execution of an integrated strategy for brand development across the various business sectors. One of the main thrust areas will be in the marketing organization capacity and capability building. He will also be responsible for translating and bringing to life the global brand promise of ‘Sense and Simplicity’. As part of Philips’ India Management Team, he will report into Mr. Murali Sivaraman, Chief Executive Officer, Philips Electronics India Ltd.
Prior to Philips, Mr. Sharma was with Mirc Electronics Ltd. as Vice President, Marketing, and Sales. At Mirc he spearheaded the re-launch of the ONIDA brand across product categories, championing the brand’s remarkable market share growth in the air-conditioning segment. An industry veteran with over 19 years of experience, he has held senior leadership positions across Cadbury's, Warner Lambert and in Ogilvy & Mather Advertising as Head of Unilever business in India.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Murali Sivaraman, Chief Executive Officer, Philips Electronics India Ltd. said, “Vivek will help drive the transformation of Philips into a market driven company that truly reflects the needs of its customers. He will also work closely with our focus sectors in delivering our global Vision 2010.”
