There is some good news for consumers. Petrol and diesel prices may be lowered by the end of this month reports CNBC-TV18.

Even piped natural gas prices may come down, as the Finance Ministry seems to have agreed to give infrastructure status to PNG or piped natural gas. That is after the petroleum ministry requested that such a status be accorded to PNG Speaking at a function at Panipat Finance Minister P Chidambaram said he had no objection to this idea.

"We have a policy on pipelines and we will certainly take a look at requests of the Ministry of Petroleum that pipelines should have the same status as railways and roads have today, namely infrastructure" says P Chidambaram.
