The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Corps of Signals, Army Headquarters are organizing DEFCOM India-2007, a Defence Communication seminar from May 10-12, 2007 in New Delhi, a press release issued by CII said here on Wednesday.
The seminar and exhibition, sixth in the series, will be inaugurated by the Minister of State for Defence, Mr M M Pallam Raju. Lt Gen SP Sree Kumar, Signal Officer in Chief, Indian Army will deliver the theme address during the inaugural session.
The international seminar along with the exhibition, aims to address issues by obtaining views of experts to enable the defence forces to make an informed choice for future network technologies. The seminar will also provide the Indian industry an insight into networking requirements from users’ perspective, the release said.
It will also act as a sounding board wherein network planners and managers of wide area networks of Indian Army will apprise the industry of challenges and complexities of interoperability and synchronization of the defence networks. It will also provide a platform to the Indian Industry to interact with a wide cross section of defence forces officers so that a well-coordinated strategy for future defence networks is formulated, the release added.
During the seminar, eminent speakers including Lt Gen Aditya Singh, GOC-in-C Southern Command, Lt Gen HS Panag, GOC-in-C Northern Command, Lt Gen AK Saini, Director General Rashtriya Rifles, Lt Gen ML Naidu, GOC-in-C ARTRAC, Mr Atul Kirloskar, Chairman and Managing Director, Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd and Mr Ashok Kannodia, Managing Director, Precision Electronics Ltd will present their views on Future Defence Network Strategies: User Perspective; Trends in Next Generation Networks (NGN): Industry Perspective; Management Strategies for NGN; Information Security in NGN; Technology Management; Relevance of EMI / EMC in future battle fields; E-bombs and other threats and Sunrise Technologies, the release added.
Prominent defence companies like Agilent Technologies India Private Limited, Bharti Airtel Limited, Cisco Systems India Private Limited, Digital Broadcast India Limited, EADS, Elbit Systems, IBM, Juniper Networks Private Limited, Nelco Limited, NIIT Technologies Limited, Nortel Networks India Private Limited, Raytheon, Rohde & Schwarz, Rolta India Limited etc. Over 400 members from the Armed Forces and Industry are also expected to participate in the event.
