The airline industry is undergoing a major transformation and Praful Patel , the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation , is not taking a back seat. In a move to earn some good amount of revenue, his ministry has come up with different licences for both, national and regional airlines . He further added that the government is mulling to allow airlines to import and hedge fuel.

The government is looking at encouraging merchant airports  also. The minister asserted that the government is not averse to more capacity and airlines in the country.

The minister is in favour of rationalisation of taxes in the aviation sector at the state level as well.
