As a part of Nokia's strategy to offer GPS and navigation services to a larger consumer base, Nokia India announced the launch of its much-awaited Nokia 6110 Navigator, the first dedicated phone optimized for GPS and navigation functionality.

Nokia 6110 Navigator comes with the pre-installed maps of eight cities including Delhi & NCR, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore & Hyderabad and is ideal for consumers who want to enjoy the benefits of fully integrated navigation experience. Additionally, users can also download maps of over 150 countries on their phone.

Nokia 6110 Navigator further strengthens Nokia's GPS-enabled phone portfolio. Earlier this year, Nokia had introduced Nokia N95, Nokia N95 8GB, Nokia N82 and Nokia E90 into the market combining personal navigation capabilities with smartphone connectivity.

The Nokia 6110 Navigator features integrated maps, routing and navigation available with the click of the one-touch Navigator key. This handset features the unique full turn-by-turn 3D navigation feature that suggests the best route to follow to reach a location. Clear instructions by voice guidance and turn arrows on a map ensure finding the fastest way to the destination. Nokia 6110 Navigator will be available in the Indian market from end December at an MRP of Rs. 20869/-.

Speaking at the occasion Mr. Devinder Kishore, Director Marketing Nokia India said, "The mobile industry is converging towards Internet driven experiences and Navigation is one of the key drivers in Nokia's vision of combining Internet and mobility. With the Nokia 6110 Navigator, mobile phone owners will be able to enjoy the benefits of navigation in their daily life - whether they want to explore a location within a city, search for restaurants, ATMS, shopping malls and other points of interests.

"With GPS and navigation services expanding rapidly into mobile communications devices, this industry is poised to grow. Maps and navigation will become a standard feature in a number of Nokia mobile devices. Nokia is committed to deliver great devices, combined with compelling experiences and services to our consumers," he added.

The 8 Indian city maps currently have locations and details of 75,000+ km of roads, 10,000+ Restaurants & Hotels, 10,000+ Banks & ATMs, 5,000+ Schools & Colleges, 3,000+ Petrol Pumps, 3,000+ Places of Worship, 2,000+ Hospitals & Medicine Shops, 2,000+ Car & Auto Service Stations, and 1,000's of other places of interest.

Nokia is the world's largest mobile device manufacturer with more than 900 million people using a Nokia mobile device around the world. Driven by Internet and digital convergence, Nokia is expanding its offering to include areas such as entertainment, communities and location based services. Currently, the Nokia 6110 Navigator, Nokia N95, Nokia N95 8GB, Nokia N82 and Nokia E90 offer onboard GPS along with high-speed connectivity. All current Nokia S60 and many Series 40 devices also support GPS via a Bluetooth wireless module.
