Technology enthusiasts from across the country got their adrenaline levels pumping as the Grand Finale of the Nokia Nseries Fusions Challenge came to an exciting finish on August 23, 2008. Fusions Challenge - an exciting initiative launched by Nokia Nseries invited entries from technology enthusiasts across the country to come together and discover their passions using mobile technology on Nseries multimedia devices. Consumers were invited to sign up on Nokia Nseries Fusions Challenge website ( www.nokia.co.in/fusion ), give a detailed description of their team along with a picture to participate in this ultimate contest. Ten teams were shortlisted in each city through a month long online selection process from July 01-27, 2008. During the second phase of this campaign, on-ground relay race were held in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad with one team emerging the winner from each city. Out of the ten city winners, the two teams with the highest scores - who were from New Delhi and Bangalore -were selected to contest the finals.

 

As part of the Grand Finale of the Nokia Nseries Fusions Challenge held in Mumbai, the two teams- Team Ashish from Delhi, led by Ashish Jain and Team Imagination from Bangalore, led by Kalpana Kumar, were given a list of 8 landmarks on their mobile devices and 8 pictures as hard copy clues. The two teams had to duplicate a trail earlier formed by popular MTV Host and VJ Ranvijay within a time period of four hours. The teams had to form the trail using the sportstracker application on the Nokia N78, connecting all the places through pictures clicked within the given time frame and upload the same on Fusions Challenge website. At the end of the challenge, the trails formed by both teams were screened by the celebrity judge Ranvijay and Team Delhi was declared the Champions of the New Fusions Challenge. Ashish Jain, the leader of the winning team from New Delhi won a trip to Turkey, while each of the team members won a cool Nokia N78 as prize.

 

Nokia Nseries received an overwhelming response for the Fusions Challenge. 300000 people visited the site, 78000 played the online game and the finalists were chosen on the basis on their scores and the number of fans they garnered online.

 

Sharing his perspective on the initiative, Mr. Vineet Taneja, Country Head-GTM, Nokia India said, "The idea behind the Fusions Challenge was to engage the audience in an innovative format and get technology enthusiasts across to connect with individuals and communities around shared interests and passions. It was aimed to be a platform for consumers to unwrap the immense potential of a converged device, discover their passions and share them instantaneously with the rest of the world." "Nokia Nseries always attempts to offer technology in a simple yet interactive manner that helps people adopt it in their daily lives and that's what we have yet again accomplished with the Nokia Nseries Fusions Challenge," he added.
