Recent developments at NIIT

The wide acceptance by the industry of NIIT's special programmes for engineering students and the multi-track GNIIT programme led to doubling the number of placement of our students in 2005-06.

 

NIIT, which addressed the spectrum of e-Learning activities, like learning content, design and development and integration of learning tools, hosted solutions and learner support services, completed its portfolio by acquiring the US headquartered Element K, recently. Together, NIIT and Element K will emerge as the leading global provider of comprehensive learning solutions, with more than 3,000 employees.

 

In China, NIIT continued to further consolidate its leadership through strategic partnerships. NIIT operates in over 100 education centres in 25 provinces in China. NIIT has been offering education in nearly 30 countries.

 

NIIT plans to enrich its portfolio of offerings for the individual learners in mini metros by offering Programmes in the IT assisted space. The recently launched NIIT Imperia, Centre for Advanced Learning will provide Executive Management Education Programmes in association with Indian Institutes of Management at Ahmedabad, Calcutta and Indore.

 

The NIIT Institute of Finance, Banking and Insurance (IFBI), with equity participation from ICICI Bank, will prepare skilled professionals for the financial services sector. The company has initially set up specialized NIIT Imperia and IFBI centres in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad.

 

The third business, NIIT Litmus, offers assessment and proficiency testing services for catalysing large scale-recruitment in the IT and ITES space. NIIT Litmus centres have been set up in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore, to begin with.
