Nevis Networks, a provider of comprehensive LAN security solutions, is pleased to announce that it's LANenforcer 1048 Secure Access Switch has been selected by Patni Computer Systems Ltd. to provide safe, cost effective network access for guests and users accessing the corporate network in conference rooms.  Patni is a leading global provider of information technology services and business solutions worldwide.  Patni has deployed multiple Nevis LANenforcer systems to secure conference rooms at its Mumbai - Corporate Office and Bangalore sites.  Specifically, LANenforcer will be used to enforce access control policies and to prevent malware from spreading into the corporate network.

As Patni's large base of overseas customers engages with them on development projects, they frequently visit the company's offices during which time, they require Internet access.  Before purchasing LANenforcer, Patni had to routinely provide network access to visitors by provisioning dialup connections for internet access, while physically policing LAN connections to ensure that only employees connected through them.  This solution was unreliable and costly to operate and service, but other solutions did not offer a single Network Access Control solution for both guests and employees, and left the network vulnerable to the introduction of malware from unmanaged endpoints as they connected.

"Patni is committed to providing safe and easy Internet access to each of its customers when they are visiting our facilities. The solutions from Nevis Networks ensure that the customers' intellectual property and confidential data is protected at all times,  Nevis met our requirements of controlling access to corporate resources for both guests and employees while minimizing the risk of malware propagation in the network",  said Ajay Soni, Vice President IT infrastructure for Patni.

Nevis' LANenforcer 1048 secure switches are installed in wiring closets at Patni. Multiple connections are available in each conference room, enabling users to easily connect their endpoint to the network.  Visitors can safely access the Internet while employees can simultaneously access specific network resources for which they are authorized.  In addition, the risk of mobile endpoints introducing threats onto the network is eliminated as only Nevis detects and stops known and zero day threats at the source.  The LANenforcer 1048 uniquely combines identity-based access control, parallelized wire speed threat detection (stateful firewall; traffic, protocol and behavioral anomaly detection, intrusion prevention system (IPS)) and microsecond quarantine to achieve comprehensive Network Access Control.
