Network Appliance today announced the appointment of Vikram Shah as vice president and general manager for NetApp Bangalore. Shah will play a key role in driving NetApp technology innovation, product development, and customer support at the only major NetApp® technology facility outside of the United States. "I am very pleased that Vikram has joined to head NetApp Bangalore," said Tom Georgens, executive vice president and general manager, Enterprise Storage, NetApp. "Over the years since its inception, NetApp Bangalore has been a vital engineering and support facility for us, serving customers throughout the world. I am confident Vikram's leadership will take our product innovation to the next level, as we continue to bring out solutions that help our customers manage enterprise-wide data more effectively. "Vikram brings with him rich experience in managing high-growth operations for companies in India. We look forward to working with him and the positive impact he will bring to our business." In the course of his long career, Shah has worked with various distinguished organizations. He has been associated with Novell India as managing director, with Tata Unisys as vice president (technology), and with Tech Mahindra (earlier Mahindra British Telecom) as CEO. He has also worked with Tata Consultancy Services and IBM. Vikram is an active member of numerous trade organizations, such as the American Chamber of Commerce, Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, Bangalore Forum of IT Companies, and Board of IT Education Standards. Shah earned his B.S. in electronics from BITS Pilani, India, and his M.S. in computer science from the University of California, Berkeley.
