To help automate and streamline supply chain and manufacturing processes, NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) has integrated its radio frequency identification (RFID) software solution, NCR TransitionWorks™ for RFID and Mobility, with the Oracle® E-Business Suite.
The integrated solution enables real-time capture and monitoring of inventory for supply chain and manufacturing processes. It allows Oracle E-Business Suite customers to deploy autonomous inventory reporting processes for activities, such as picking, staging and shipping, that previously required human intervention.
“NCR is pleased to facilitate the integration of Oracle’s software with our RFID technology and expertise,” said NCR Vice President and General Manager for AIDC Solutions Donna A. Wright. “In fact, NCR’s central fulfillment center is a user of the Oracle E-Business Suite, and we are working with the center to incorporate these new capabilities.”
With the solution, Oracle’s customers, including NCR, can augment current implementations of the Oracle E-Business Suite with updated, streamlined business processes. For example, if a warehouse forklift driver is directed to pick up a certain order, line items are automatically issued to that order as the RFID-enabled forklift retrieves pallets and moves them to a staging area or trailer. Conveyors can also be equipped with RFID readers, sensors and programmable logic controllers, allowing cases to be identified regardless of orientation and diverted down the correct lane.
“We are pleased that NCR has been able to utilize their existing investment in the Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Warehouse Management to deploy these capabilities, using the NCR TransitionWorks for RFID and Mobility application,” said Jennifer Sherman, senior director, Product Strategy at Oracle. “The integration helps to drive real benefits to their own supply chain execution and offers compelling value for our shared customers.”
