NASSCOM, the premier trade body and 'voice' of the Indian IT-BPO industry, today announced its 5th annual HR Summit to be held in Chennai on July 3-4 2008. Among the various factors that comprise the Indian IT-BPO industry's value proposition, strong fundamentals of a large talent pool is arguably the single most strength that has helped India emerge as a preferred sourcing destination. Today, changing market dynamics on account of macro economic factors spanning market fluctuation, currency movements, their impact on the economy and indirect impact on the industry make this period a challenging one for most industries including the IT-BPO sector. Themed 'Managing Change' against this very backdrop, the summit will focus closely on workforce related issues and concerns, and to address the wave of change the IT industry is riding. Speaking about the focus for this year's summit, Sangeeta Gupta, Vice President, NASSCOM, said "Human resource is the foundation of the Indian IT-BPO industry and the advantageous position enjoyed by the Indian IT industry rests on the shoulders of its skilled human power. However, at this growth curve, the industry is faced with a number of issues and growing concerns around workforce. This year's Summit will work as a platform where the IT industry will deliberate issues affecting them, and listen to representatives from other industries that are based on human resources to absorb learnings from them; listen to academicians on what and how can the industry bridge the gaps that exist today; seek views from HR consultants on market dynamics from their perspective and thus take away learnings on change that needs to be brought about from the perspective of customer engagements, processes and geographic expansion."
Key Highlights The HR Summit 2008 will provide a platform to examine various burning issues and challenges faced by the HR community in the IT industry and discuss how HR has to evolve a more meaningful role for itself in the organisations. Some of the main tracks include:
