Stamp duty charges will remain at 5% and uniform FSI (Floor Space Index) may be levied in all parts of Maharashtra. Area limit of 100 acres mandatory for townships may also be reconsidered. The government is also looking at scrapping VAT on property. But this may also mean a reduction in concessions that builders get in developing townships. A 0.33 FSI that is now only applicable to suburban Mumbai may be levied in all of Maharashtra.
