Anil Jain, MD, Jain Irrigation Systems said that delay in the monsoon was a matter of concern but it was not time to panic. "Our business is not directly dependent on rains on the immediate basis. If it rains in the next seven days, then still good amount of farm output will come and the impact may be only about 5-10% depending on the crop shift," he said. He expected current year growth to be between 40-50%.

C Mithun Chand, ED, Kaveri Seeds didn't see a huge drop in demand because of delay in the monsoon.

If the rains don’t come for the next 2-3 weeks especially dry land farmers, they will try and do some sunflower, urad or any other short crops which can give them enough rain but people have lot of expectations – farmers especially because if you would have seen in the last year, farmers got very good prices for sugarcane, for cotton and so on. Within farmers there is this huge expectation that this year also would be good, so a lot of farmers wanting to go ahead and plant as soon as they can.
