Mahindra & Mahindra , a part of the US $6.7 billion Mahindra Group, further consolidated its leadership position in the automotive segment in May 2008.

 

The company announced that sales including exports grew by 32.3% in May '08, with total sales of 40,683 vehicles as against 30,748 vehicles in the corresponding period last year. Domestic sales in May '08 stood at 19,296, as against 17,079 in May '07.

 

Mahindra began the year on a positive note with a spectacular 58.5% increase in domestic sales in April '08 and leadership in the Utility Vehicle segment with record sales of the Bolero. This upward trend continues with strong growth in May '08.

 

Passenger Cars

Mahindra Renault sold 1531 units of the Logan in May 2008.

 

Domestic sales

M&M clocked total vehicles sales of 19,296 units in the domestic market in May '08 as against 17,079 in the corresponding month last fiscal, a 13% increase.

 

Exports

The company's automotive sector clocked sales of 1357 vehicles in May '08 as against 802 units in the corresponding period last fiscal.
