The company is trying to find the right set of partners for deploying this solution.
Speaking to Business Line, Ms Pallavi Kathuria, Director (Server Business Group), Microsoft India, noted the big shift in HPC from high-end (research) fields to mainstream environment in recent years. "HPC adoption in the E&M space has been magnificent. Many media houses in the South are looking at HPC clusters and the time-to-market as benefits for adoption. Engineering and banking and finance verticals are the other areas of growth," she said. A PwC and FICCI report has estimated the E&M market in India to grow at 19% over the next five years. It stood at Rs 35,300 crore in 2005. The same study envisions the global offshore engineering spend to grow to Rs 10,25,000 crore ($225 billion) by 2020. India is estimated to pick 25% of the amount considering its talent pool and engineering service experience. Microsoft India, according to Ms Kathuria, is working with several partners such as Independent Software Vendors (like Ansys in the manufacturing space), System Integrators (like Progression and Wipro ) and Original Equipment Manufacturers to sell high-end solutions. "We are working with 10 Systems Integrators to address the demand. We would in due course get the next wave ready," she added. Taken from Business Line
