Micro Tech on track to post revenues close Rs 400cr in FY10

In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Nisha Menon, Chief Information Officer at Micro Technologies (India) Limited spoke about the company's new product and the road ahead.

Q: Take us through the new product that you have launched Micro Jai Kisan and how much that could add to your revenues prospectively?

A: Micro Jai Kisan is one of the very innovative products, Micro Technologies as an organization, core competent in terms of research and development, has come up. It has concentrated more on the rural segment this time. The security technology have been the core competency and this particular product has been launched to take care of the rural segment in terms of secured water management tool because water and power is the major factors which is there into the rural segment.

We have given a push to that in terms of the products which have been recently launched which is known as Micro Jai Kisan. We have already started the sampling of this particular project in various states. It has given a very positive vibe. So much so that it has even been recently launched by the honourable Union Minister by the hands of CP Joshi and it has been given a very positive response in terms of the rural segment per se.

Q: What kind of initial order intake do you expect to see on this product in specific? How cost effective is it for you in the sense how high margin is this product?

A: We have taken in to consideration that this is a product, which is catering the rural segment, so cost effectiveness is one part we have specially taken care of, which is somewhere around not more than Rs 7000. The second part, what we have taken care of is that it is a very user friendly product. Because the segment in which we are catering is the rural segment and rural segment to note is a low literate category, an uneducated category, so user friendliness is the second most important factor and we have taken that into account.

We are already talking to various agricultural associates, business associates where we have direct access to more than 1 lakh farmers, which preferably would be soon reflected in the coming quarter.

Q: You have actually closed the first half of the year with Rs 186 crore in revenues which looks like you are well on track to show significant growth over last years revenue of Rs 290 crore. Do you think you could edge close to Rs 400 crore by the time the year is out?

A: In terms of facts and figures in terms of preferably to come to a figure as a particular we would preferably hope that we should achieve this particular figure as of now seeing the significant growth and research and development, the latest technologies what we are coming up with.

So preferably we should be nearer to this particular figure.

Q: You won a very large size vehicle security product order in 2009, is that still flowing into this calendar year and what is the size of that order?

A: Yes we have already introduced some of the major pilot runs in different areas and that definitely would be spilled over to the next 2-3 years and we have got a very positive response and definitely it will add on to a very substantial growth in the revenue segment.

Q: Which sector is most of your growth coming in from- is it telecom, is it autos, which area of technology?

A: Basically, it's the security technology preferably into the vehicle security segment we have a substantial growth. We have a very aggressive growth not only from the domestic market, we are also getting huge amount of orders from the overseas market. The international markets also we have tapped very aggressively.

The second most important segment which adds on to our revenue is the premises security, that is the infrastructure security that too again a domestic sector is a major sector, which is contributing along with the major international deals, wherein we have recently tied up with one of the premier Israeli organization for a safe city concept, wherein technology from Micro Technologies would be sold and distributed out there in Israel and adjoining countries.
