For the first time ever Metropolis Heath Services India Pvt Ltd, experts in healthcare since 1981, and BharatMatrimony, India’s leading matrimony portal with a database of over 12 million registered users, have come together to launch a joint initiative to promote premarital health check ups to the most relevant audience.
The main motive behind this alliance is to emphasize the need for premarital health checkup to promote healthier marriages by reaching out to the right audience already available with the leading matrimony portal.
With this tie-up, members of BharatMatrimony can avail the pre-marital health check up at special prices and also upload the certificate as part of their profile. Such profiles will be highlighted as “Health Profiles” on BharatMatrimony. This helps in promoting complete transparency in the process of matchmaking.
Premarital health check ups help in preventing untoward instances of contracting infectious or sexually transmitted diseases, abandonment due to the same, reducing health risk for future progeny.
Emphasizing the need for pre-marital testing Dr G.S.K Velu, Managing Director, Metropolis Health Services said, “There is an alarming increase of incidence in infectious diseases being reported in the country and there is increased risk of transmission of disease in most traditional marriages since both partners are relative strangers to each other. The Pre marital health check “Soul to Soul” can play an important role in diagnosing hereditary disorders like Thalassemia, Sickle Cell Anemia etc and chronic infectious diseases like HBV, HCV and HIV. It also ensures that the future progeny would lead a life relatively free of infectious and hereditary diseases/disorders.”
Mr. Murugavel Janakiraman, Founder and CEO of BharatMatrimony said, “In today’s social set up, making the right choice in finding one’s life partner is most challenging. As an organization, we are committed to provide the most secured platform for individuals to meet and we are happy to launch “Health Profile” that will also ensure everlasting happy marriages.”
“This unique revolutionary tie up is also extremely relevant socially and the medium makes it easier to ask for a health status, which may otherwise be socially unacceptable or uncomfortable to ask for in the traditional framework, especially for the relatives of the girl, he added.”
According to Vaishnavi Jayakumar, Founder member of The Banyan, an NGO for destitute mentally ill women, “In a country like India most families go through the arranged marriage route and transparency and honest communication takes a setback in most instances. It is also difficult to shake the set norms and ask for a health check up. There have been rising cases of women being deserted by husbands due to ill-health, contracting STDs and hence resulting in acute depression. Pre-martial testing will be effective in reducing instances of the same and should be made compulsory by the government.”
How Pre Marital Health check up package works on BharatMatrimony:
