'Gramin Suvidha Kendra' (GSK), a joint initiative of India Post and MCX has been setup in Itarsi, Madhya Pradesh.

Through this unique partnership, MCX (including its associates and stakeholders) aims to cater to the market information, warehousing, advisory, and agri-input needs of the farmers through the wide-spread India Post network  (over 155,000) across the country. The services offered through this alliance would make it possible for farmers to seek expert advice on farming problems, to get better market price for their produce, better warehousing, financing against warehouse receipts, quality testing and grading facilities, in addition to providing a host of other services.

Itarsi Post office will act as a nodal centre through which villages covered by 5 branch post offices linked to it, can avail of GSK service. MCX is providing the infrastructure, including computer terminal, Internet access, Printer, Scanner, Fax, Webcam and electronic MCX commodity price ticker. In addition, in order to display the market information in villages, black boards would be provided to the branch offices. The PC setup at the Sub-post Office (SO) caters to all the needs of concerned Branch Offices (BO) reporting to it.

Farmers and traders in commodities could get price information and an answer to the query on support services directly with a central hub for fast and accurate information. The farmer can route his query from his village through the postal network to the GSK, where India Post - MCX representative will feed the query and procure the answer online. This reverse leg will again ride on the postal network. Besides specific queries, support information like prices, news and agri-inputs will also ride on this daily network.
